Twelve Broncos Selected For D2 Nationals

Twelve Cal Poly Pomona track and field student-athletes have been selected to participate in the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 25-27 at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colo. Of the twelve Broncos, seven women and five men were selected to compete for national championships in their respective events.

On the women's side, Ayana Fields will compete in four different events while in Colorado, the 400-meters, the 200-meters, and both the 4x100 and 4x400 Relays. Jade De Souza will compete in the Triple Jump and Susie Fowler qualified for the 100-meter Hurdles. The women's 4x100 Relay team of Jaelyn Thomas, Kelsey Ehinlaiye, Yuna Queniat and Ayana Fields advanced to Nationals, as did the 4x400 Relay team of Thomas, Ari Milton, Queniat and Fields.

For the men, Ryan Fields will run in both the 110-meter Hurdles and the 400-meter Hurdles, and joining him will be Nnamdi Onwaeze in the 110-meter Hurdles and Alessio Sommacal in the 400-meter Hurdles. Matteo Madrassi was selected for the Pole Vault and Deandre Smith qualified in the Long Jump.

The Cal Poly Pomoma women have posted 11 individual national championships in program history. The most recent individual titles came in 1998 when Tabreshia Lawrence won the 400m Hurdles and Ruth Moecks won the Triple Jump. On the men's side, the Broncos have nine individual national championships in program history. Most recently, Justin Ellerbee won the Pole Vault in 2015.
