NCAA DIVISION II REGIONAL RANKINGS

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team has been placed at No. 6 in the second official NCAA Division II West Region Rankings released Wednesday by the NCAA.

Should the Broncos (26-19) maintain their ranking as one of the Top 6 teams in the West Region when the 56-team NCAA tournament field is announced on Sunday, May 14, CPP will have qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in program history, and for the eighth time under the leadership of 13th-year head coach Randy Betten.

The NCAA will continue to release updated regional rankings each week up until the announcement of the 2023 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship Tournament, which will be made via a live selection show at NCAA.com on May 14 at 7:00 pm.

Cal State Monterey Bay opens as the No. 1 ranked team this week at 31-13 overall, followed by Cal State San Bernardino (33-13) at No. 2. Close behind is Point Loma (33-12), Azusa Pacific (31-17) and San Francisco State at No. 3, 4 and 5 ahead of CPP at No. 6. On the outside looking in, Stanislaus State (23-21) is at No. 7 while Hawaii Hilo (25-19) is at No. 8.

Cal Poly Pomona has clinched a spot in the upcoming CCAA Tournament on May 10-13 in Seaside, but will sit idle this weekend and wait to find out what seed it will be upon conclusion of play around the rest of the conference.
