Bronco Women Repeat As CCAA Champions In San Marcos!

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – For the second consecutive season, the Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field team captured the CCAA Track and Field championship with 191 points, holding off Chico State by 6.5 points in the end.
 
Ayana Fields was named the Track Athlete of the Meet and High Point Award winner while head coach Chris Bradford was named the CCAA Women's Coach of the Year.
 
It is the fourth CCAA title for the program.
 
The Broncos won eight individual titles, earning first place in almost half of the 21 event contested during the three-day meet. In all, CPP now has 96 individual CCAA titles dating back to the program's inception in 1980. A total of 21 All-CCAA medals were handed out to CPP student-athletes this weekend.
 
INDIVIDUAL CHAMPION TRACKER (8)
  • The 4x100 Relay Team of Jaelyn Thomas, Kelsey Ehinlaiye, Yuna Queniat and Ayana Fields shattered its own school record with a title-winning time of 45.48. It is the second straight CCAA title for the Broncos in the event, and the sixth CCAA title in program history.
  • Jade De Souza captured her first CCAA title in the Triple Jump with a mark of 12.33 meters. It is the fourth CCAA title in the event for the program, and the first since 1998.
  • Susie Fowler captured the100m Hurdles title with a personal-best time of 13.82, her time also moves her into a tie for fourth all-time in the CPP record book; it is the 10th title in the event in program history, and the first since 2017.
  • Ayana Fields won the 400 meters with a time of 54.45; it is the fifth CCAA title for the Broncos in the event in program history, and the second won by Fields.
  • Arissa Hatcher captured the title in the 800 meters, running the event in 2:15.24; it is the fourth CCAA title for the Broncos in program history and the first since 2010.
  • Shona Christensen won the Shot Put with a mark of 12.52 meters; it is the 11th CCAA title in the event in program history.
  • Ayana Fields won the 200m Dash with a new personal-best of 22.92. It is the sixth CCAA title in the event for CPP all-time, and the second straight for Fields.
  • The 4x400 Relay Team of Jaelyn Thomas, Yuna Queniat, Arissa Hatcher and Ayana Fields clinched the team championship for the Broncos, winning the final event of the championship in a time of 3:46.50. It is the third CCAA title in the program's history in the event.

  • 100m Dash was full of record breakers for the women. Yuna Queniat (11.89) moves up one spot in the Top 10 Record Book to No. 6, and both Susie Fowler and Jaelyn Thomas ran PR's with a 11.97 to tie at No. 9 all-time.
  • Keiana Hamm broke into the Top 10 Record Book in the High Jump, placing second in the event with a PR leap of 1.68m.
