Broncos Triumph Over Warriors in 94-70 Victory

TURLOCK, Calif. - In a Thursday night showdown, Cal Poly Pomona secured a resounding victory against Stanislaus State in their second-highest scoring game during Danelle Bishop's 13-season tenure as head coach. The Broncos dominated with a 94-70 win, improving their conference record to 6-4 in the CCAA and their overall record to 10-5.

From the opening tip-off, Cal Poly Pomona asserted dominance, paving the way for a commanding performance that left the Warriors struggling to keep up. Reina Sausedo led the scoring with 20 points in the game, her career-high in a Bronco uniform. In the first quarter, Sausedo contributed 10 points and assisted with the Broncos' season-best defensive effort that held the Warriors to a mere six points. The Ripon native also finished with eight rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

As the game progressed, the Broncos maintained their offensive prowess, outscoring Stanislaus State 27-16 in the second quarter alone. The team's formidable defense kept the Warriors at bay, allowing Cal Poly Pomona to enter halftime with a commanding 48-22 lead.

The third quarter witnessed the Broncos extending their lead by an impressive 28 points, fueled by a remarkable 71.4% (5-for-7) success rate from beyond the arc.

On the night, five different Broncos contributed double-digit scores, with Jeanette Fine securing her second double-double of the season. Fine notched 10 points and 11 rebounds, adding two assists and two steals to her stellar performance.

Sydney Nelson also made a significant offensive impact, scoring 17 points, grabbing five rebounds, and contributing one block and one steal. Nelson has now scored in double digits in 12 of her first 15 collegiate contests. Andrea Stajic added 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Breanne Ha contributed 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

The Broncos maintained their lead throughout the entire match, ultimately tying their highest-scoring game of the season at 94 points. Their 94 points scored is tied for the second-most during Danelle Bishop's tenure as head coach, having done so earlier this year against Bethesda as well as against San Francsico State back in 2018. The most points scored was a 96-48 victory in 2013, also done against Stanislaus State.
