ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Xenia Anastasiadou, a former CPP women's tennis player from 1986-1988, has been inducted into the California Collegiate Athletic Association Hall of Fame, it was announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.

The two-time national champion is considered the best women's tennis player in both Cal Poly Pomona and CCAA history, earning Intercollegiate Tennis Coach's Association All-America honors in each of her three seasons with the Broncos. In that same span, she earned three All-CCAA honors and keyed the Broncos to a conference title and a pair of runner-up finishes. CPP finished third at the NCAA Tournament in each of her three seasons.

One of Greece's best female players at the time, Anastasiadou was the No. 1 ranked singles player in all of NCAA Division II entering the 1989 season.

Anastasiadou was inducted into the Cal Poly Pomona Athletics Hall of Fame in 1994, and is one of six women's tennis inductees to have a plaque on the wall in Kellogg Arena.

Her historic career was tragically cut short when she was killed by an automobile accident in Diamond Bar in February 1989. Anastasiadou was struck by a car with brake failure, and was subsequently taken to San Dimas Community Hospital, where she died early the next morning. She was just 22 years old, and was preparing for her senior season that started a few weeks later – one that she hoped would culminate in her third consecutive national title.

Her dominance as an athlete will never be forgotten, as she is now immortalized in both the CPP Athletics Hall of Fame and the CCAA Hall of Fame. Anastasiadou is the eighth Cal Poly Pomona athlete, coach, or administrator to be inducted into the CCAA Hall of Fame since its inception in 2014.
