NEW ORLEANS, La. – Eight Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field athletes were named Indoor All-West Region, it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) earlier this month.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.
Keiana Turner was the top finisher in the entire West Region in the weight throw, her distance of 16.78 meters being nearly half a meter farther than the second place finisher. This mark was the second-farthest in school history, behind only herself at 16.89 meters in the Spokane Invitational in 2022.
Ayana Fields was the lone Bronco to see multiple All-West region honors, including the 60 meters, 400 meters, and the 4x400 relay. Fields broke the indoor school record in the 60 meters at the Spokane Invitational in December, also setting a personal record with a time of 7.46 seconds. This mark earned her an at-large bid to the indoor national championships in March, where she would finish in 17
th place with a time of 7.60.
Tianna Jardstrom,
Yuna Queniat, and
Jaelyn Thomas were the other three members of the 4x400 relay team that had the second-fastest time in the region at 3:46.53 seconds. This mark was also the second-fastest in school history.
