NEW ORLEANS – The Cal Poly Pomona men's track & field team was ranked No. 1 in all NCAA Division II, it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday morning.
This is the first time the Broncos have ever been ranked No. 1 in the country since the weekly polls were introduced in 2010. The previous school record for best ranking had been No. 2, done in back-to-back weeks to open the 2015 season. That was also a year where CPP would finish with a final ranking of No. 22, their highest end-of-the-year ranking thanks in large part to Justin Ellerbee's individual national title in pole vault.
The men's team has made regular appearances in the Top 10 over the past few seasons, reaching as high as No. 5 in 2023 and as high as No. 6 in 2019.

The women's track and field team was also ranked in the Top 10 on Tuesday, coming in at No. 7 in the country. Over the past four seasons, CPP has been ranked No. 8, 5, 6, and now 7 in the Week 1 rankings. Their highest national ranking came in 2015, where the opened the season as the No. 3 team in all of Division II. The women's team has been ranked in the Top 50 in the country in every single weekly poll since Week 9 of 2018.
