6/15/2024 1:00:00 PM

CLEVELAND - The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released the final national standings for the 2023-24 LEARFIELD Directors' Cup on Tuesday. Cal Poly Pomona ranked No. 58 out of all NCAA Division II athletics departments, and third in the CCAA. The department finished with 320 total points from seven sports, marking the eighth time in the past nine years (excluding COVID) that the Broncos have been among the Top 75 athletic departments in NCAA Division II.

The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. Overall, 15 sports are counted in the final DII standings, four of which must be women's volleyball and basketball and men's basketball and baseball. The next highest (11 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.

Cal State LA led all CCAA schools with 444.5 points at No. 27, thanks in large part to their national title in women's volleyball this past fall. Azusa Pacific led the West Region with a 13th place finish at 630.25 points. In total, 11 West Region schools placed Top 100 in the LEARFIELD Director's Cup this year, Cal Poly Pomona being the seventh-highest in the region. The CCAA garnered the most points among the three west region conferences with 2,227.5 points.

Grand Valley State University from Allendale, Michigan won their 16th Director's Cup, compiling 983 total points.

The Broncos had previously been ranked No. 21 in the nation after the conclusion of the fall sports season with 165 points, and No. 57 after the conclusion of the winter sports season with 190 points.

  • Over the past 10 years, the Broncos are averaging 281 points and a final ranking of No. 74.
  • The department's highest finish came in 1996-97, just the second year of the award, when they earned 317.5 points for 18th place.
