RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona men's cross country team competed in the 43
rd Annual UCR Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning, placing 10
th in the men's invite. In a field full of Division I talent, CPP was the second-highest finisher among Division II schools with an average time of 24:32 in the 8K race.
Redshirt freshman
Juan Ramos led the Green & Gold with a time of 24:22.5, averaging 4:54.2 per mile for a 61
st place finish. This was Ramos' first time running under 25 minutes in an 8K race, setting a personal best. It is also the 17
th-fastest time in an 8K race in program history.
Leandro Candray was close behind with a time of 24:24.3, placing 64
th and averaging 4:54.6 per mile. This finish was good for the 18
th-fastest time in program history.
CPP's reigning individual meet champion,
Evan Franco, also set a personal best on Saturday, finishing third among Bronco runners with a time of 24:30.8. This was over 50 seconds faster than his finish at the Coyote Challenge earlier this month, and is tied for the 22
nd-fastest time in program history.
In total, six of the nine Broncos competing set personal bests in an 8K race.
