Cal Poly Pomona returns much of its core from last year's campaign, led by senior guard Demarreya Lewis-Cooper, who averaged a team-high 11.3 points per game while shooting 44.5 percent from the field. Lewis-Cooper, who also tallied 79 rebounds, 79 assists, and 40 steals, was the offensive engine for the Broncos in 2024-25 and is expected to take another leap this season.
Senior center Kevin Simeth, who averaged 5.6 rebounds per game and shot 61.5 percent from the field, returns as a consistent presence in the paint, anchoring the team's defense and bringing veteran leadership to the frontcourt. Guards Shyheim Parm and Zach Broadous provide experience and energy in the backcourt, while junior guard Malcolm Bell looks to contribute more consistently after an injury-shortened season. Senior forward Sam Hunter, who averaged 6.0 points per game and shot 46 percent from beyond the arc, adds valuable perimeter scoring.
Joining the returning group are key transfers Michael Saba and Jake Goldberg, both of whom are expected to make immediate impacts on the offensive end. Saba, a 6-foot-8 forward from Phoenix, and Goldberg, a 6-foot-4 forward from Pasadena, bring versatility and scoring depth to the rotation. Kamansky also praised his incoming freshmen for their competitiveness and energy, noting that roster depth will be one of the team's greatest strengths this season.
"I really like the group we have this year," said Kamansky. "Our returners have set a strong tone, and the new guys have fit in really well. The culture, mindset, and work ethic are all in a really good place right now. We're more experienced, deeper, and playing with confidence."
Coming off a fourth-place finish in the CCAA standings last season, the Broncos are looking to build on that progress. "We finished strong last year, and that momentum has carried into this season," Kamansky said. "The guys are hungry and focused, and they want to take that next step."
The Broncos will open the 2025-26 season at home in the Bronco Classic against Seattle Pacific on Friday, November 14 at 5:30 p.m. Cal Poly Pomona will begin CCAA play versus Cal State LA at home on Thursday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. For the first time since 2018, the Broncos will host the 2025 CCAA Conference Tournament in Kellogg Arena from March 5-7th.
