Women’s Cross Country Wins Pomona-Pitzer Invitational

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country finished the regular season in commanding fashion at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, capturing the team title with 48 points behind a tight, veteran front pack and outstanding depth. The Broncos posted a 6K team total of 1:50:07 with a 22:01 average, outpacing runner-up Vanguard (77) and third-place Pomona-Pitzer (123).
 
Senior Vivian Martinez headlined the effort with a runner-up finish in 21:36.8, keying a scoring five that all placed inside the top 15 and finished within 38.7 seconds of one another. Junior Galilea Jimenez crossed fifth in 21:52.2, followed by sophomore Miranda Palacios in 12th at 22:08.8, junior Jade Kingston in 14th at 22:14.6 and junior Alondra Arias in 15th at 22:15.5.
 
Chloe Alchin provided crucial insurance in 16th with a 22:16.6 finish, as well as senior Milca Osorio placing in 25th at 22:35.5. The Broncos' one-through-seven spread was just 58.7 seconds, displaying the teams' balance.
 
Cal Poly Pomona's depth continued to shine beyond the scorers. First-year Ali Holtzen clocked 23:03.6 for 40th, while junior Shelby Ortega-Hufana ran 23:18.2. Senior Julia Butler (23:34.5) and first-year Jubilee Cisneros (23:36.5) packed up well, with first-year Ava Holtzen (23:46.9) and first-year Emily Conde (23:52.9) close behind.
 
Sophomore Emily Howard finished in 24:31.7, junior Victoria Escanuelas ran 24:44.2, sophomore Gwen Maddox posted 25:48.4 and junior Andrea Guadian capped the Bronco contingent in 25:53.5. This was the Broncos' second team win of the season, marking the fifth time in program history they have won multiple meets in a season.
