KENOSHA, Wis. – Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country finished 16th at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course on Saturday morning, recording a team total of 1:49:22 over the 6,000-meter course and an average of 21:52.4. The team's 16
th place finish ties the best in program history in the past 40 years.
Senior
Vivian Martinez led the Broncos with a 30th-place individual finish at 20:55.8, breaking Tiffany Dinh's school record for the fastest time at a national championship by 11 seconds. By finishing in the Top 40 of the race, Martinez became the fourth runner in program history to receive USTFCCCA All-America honors, and the first since Dinh in 2012.
Junior
Alondra Arias was second for Cal Poly Pomona, placing 89th in 21:42.9, followed by junior
Jade Kingston in 114th at 22:00.3. Sophomore
Miranda Palacios finished 134th in 22:11.8, and junior
Galilea Jimenez rounded out the scoring five in 176th place with a time of 22:31.2 in the field of 262 runners. The team's one-through-five spread was 1:35.4.
Junior
Chloe Alchin finished 214th in 23:01.2, and junior
Shelby Ortega-Hufana rounded out the seven at 222nd with a 23:11.5 finish.
Cal Poly Pomona's 16th-place finish in a 34-team field marked a strong national showing for the program. Competing against the top Division II teams in the country, the Broncos maintained consistent positioning throughout the race and secured a finish among the top half of the field. The result concludes the 2025 cross country season for the Broncos, who now turn their attention to preparations for the upcoming indoor and outdoor track campaigns.
Bronco Bits
- The Broncos conclude the 2025 season with a 104-34 record. A "win" is a team they finished ahead of, while a "loss" is teams they finished behind. This season was the sixth-best record in program history.
- Head coach Chris Bradford's teams have a 582-244 record since 2017.
- This was tied for the Broncos' best finish at nationals in the past 40 years, and their first team appearance since 2019.
- Vivian Martinez' time was one second short of breaking the school 6K record. Martinez ranks first in program history in career winning percentage at 3,227-529, or 85.92 percent.
- Saturday was also Martinez's 10th time being the top finisher for CPP in her career.
