Bell Powers CPP to Road Victory Over Hawaii Hilo

HILO, Hawai'i - The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos extended their early-season success with a commanding 74-54 road win over Hawaii Hilo. CPP controlled the game from the opening tip, using balanced scoring, aggressive defense, and efficient shooting to keep the Vulcans at bay and improve to 3-1 overall.

Cal Poly Pomona opened the game with a strong first half, shooting nearly 50 percent from the field and sharing the ball to establish an early lead. Malcolm Bell set the tone inside, scoring 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds and recording four steals. Kevin Simeth provided energy on the glass, collecting a team-high 10 rebounds, including several key offensive boards that turned into second-chance points. Demarreya Lewis-Cooper added 10 points and three assists, while Shyheim Parm contributed eight points, six assists, and four steals, helping orchestrate the Broncos' offense and generate turnovers on the defensive end.

The first half saw contributions from across the roster, as Jake Goldberg knocked down two three-pointers and Sam Hunter added timely outside shots to keep the Vulcans at a distance. Bench players Edric Dennis and Zach Broadous also provided scoring support, helping CPP enter halftime with a comfortable 39-28 lead.

In the second half, the Broncos maintained their defensive intensity and high-paced offensive execution. Bell continued to assert himself in the paint, finishing strong around the rim, while Lewis-Cooper and Parm facilitated the offense with precise passing and decision-making. Hawaii Hilo made several runs, hitting outside shots and attempting to capitalize on second-chance opportunities, but Cal Poly Pomona's disciplined approach kept the margin steadily in the double digits. Bell's scoring, Simeth's rebounding, and the team's collective defensive effort ensured the Broncos could sustain their lead and ultimately cruise to a 74-54 victory.
