MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country team made history on Saturday morning at the NCAA Division II West Region Championships, finishing second overall to secure an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships. The Broncos tallied 86 points with a total team time of 1:45:14, placing behind only Chico State for the highest finish at a regional race in program history.
Senior
Vivian Martinez led the way with a standout performance, finishing third overall in the 6,000-meter race with a time of 20:32.8, just steps behind the top two finishers. Her effort set the tone for an impressive team showing across all five scorers. Sophomore
Galilea Jimenez crossed next for the Broncos, clocking 20:56.7 for 10th place, while
Alondra Arias followed close behind in 20th at 21:08.7. All three broke the school record for the fastest time at an NCAA Regional, previously set by Luz Garcia at 21:08.8 in 2019.
Miranda Palacios posted a strong 21:15.7 for 24th, and junior
Jade Kingston rounded out the scoring five with a 29th-place finish in 21:20.4. Cal Poly Pomona's top four scorers all received USTFCCCA All-West Region honors for finishing in the Top 25 of the race.

Chloe Alchin (22:17.5, 89th) and senior
Milca Osorio (24:58.4, 177th) completed the lineup for Cal Poly Pomona in Oregon.

With their second-place team finish, the Broncos continue their postseason run and will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships, marking their sixth appearance at nationals in program history. The race will take place on Saturday, November 22
nd, at Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
