KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Four members of the Broncos women's soccer program, Vanessa Cruz, Liberty Ortiz, Marisa Salazar and Jenna Tetrault, have earned prestigious selections to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region teams after a remarkable season that has propelled the Broncos into the NCAA Final Four.
Senior forward Vanessa Cruz was named to the All-West Region First Team, marking her second career selection after previously earning First Team honors in 2024. One of just three forwards chosen, Cruz has delivered a record-setting season, breaking the program mark for penalty-kick goals with six, two of which secured victories. She has totaled 13 goals and two assists, including the second goal in the NCAA semifinal against No. 1 Dallas Baptist to help ensure the Broncos' place in the Final Four. Her consistency and clutch scoring have made her one of the region's most dangerous attacking threats.
Senior defender Liberty Ortiz also earned a spot on the All-West Region First Team, one of four defenders selected. After back-to-back Second Team honors in 2023 and 2024, Ortiz elevated her play this year while logging 1,910 minutes and helping limit opponents to just 11 goals in matches she played. She has added two goals of her own, including a game winner, and has played all 90 minutes in all but four matches, anchoring the Broncos' back line with reliability and leadership.
Senior midfielder Marisa Salazar secured a place on the All-West Region First Team as one of four midfielders honored. A previous Third Team selection in 2022, Salazar has delivered a standout senior season with seven goals and three assists, including three game-winning goals. One of her most critical moments came in the NCAA quarterfinal, where she scored the decisive goal against No. 1 Dallas Baptist to send the Broncos to the Final Four. Her sharp decision-making and impact in high-pressure situations have helped drive the team forward in the postseason.
Freshman goalkeeper Jenna Tetrault earned All-West Region Third Team recognition and was one of three keepers named to the West Region teams. In an exceptional debut season, Tetrault has played all 90 minutes in every match but one, totaling 2,050 minutes. She has allowed only 11 goals, recorded 52 saves with a .825 save percentage and posted 12 shutouts, the second most in a single season in program history. Her composure and steady presence in goal have been crucial to the Broncos' deep postseason run.
