CLEVELAND – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released the fall national standings for the Learfield Director's Cup on Tuesday morning, seeing Cal Poly Pomona receive a No. 10 ranking in all of NCAA Division II with 197.5 total points. Only Western Washington finished higher than the Broncos in the west region.
Cal Poly Pomona has only been ranked higher in two other years, setting a department record with a No. 4 ranking after last fall, and also finishing No. 9 after the 2016 fall season. Among many milestones and accomplishments over the past few months, fall teams went a combined 44-15-8 with three NCAA Championship appearances in women's soccer (83 pts), women's cross country (58.5 pts), and men's cross country (56 pts).
This is the Green & Gold's second-highest point total in a single season – fall, winter, or spring – and their 197.5 points is more than CPP received in any of Athletic Director Brian Swanson's first five years at the helm. Cal Poly Pomona's highest cumulative point total for the year came in 2024-25, when they garnered 410.5 total points across all sports and finished first among CCAA schools – the third time they had done so in the past four years.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. Overall, 15 sports are counted in the final DII standings, four of which must be women's volleyball and basketball, and men's basketball and baseball. The next highest (11 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.

Bronco Bits
- This is the 29th year of the LEARFIELD Director's Cup, after being introduced in 1995-96 (excluding 2019-20 and 2020-21 due to COVID). Cal Poly Pomona has finished in the Top 100 across Division II in 18 of the 28 years.
- The Broncos have placed Top 3 among CCAA schools 12 times, including each of the past 9 years. They were the highest scoring department in the conference in three of the past four years.
- Over the past 10 years, the Broncos have averaged 313.4 points and a final ranking of No. 61.
- The department's highest finish came in 1996-97, just the second year of the award, when they earned 317.5 points for 18th place.
- The best finish under current Athletics Director Brian Swanson came in 2014-15, totaling 371.5 points for 40th place.
- This is just the third time the department has cracked the Top 10 at any point, having been ranked No. 9 in the fall of 2016 and No. 4 after last fall season.
