CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos made a strong statement at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational with standout performances across the board, highlighted by a historic showing in the men's 4x400-meter relay.
The quartet of
Camden Patterson,
Leroy Crook Jr.,
Joshua Morinaga, and
Alessio Sommacal shattered a school record and a 15-year-old meet record, clocking an impressive 3:09.43 in the 4x400-meter relay. Their performance currently ranks fifth in the nation.
In the field,
Jered Beasley set a new personal best in the pole vault with a mark of 5.05 meters, earning him an NCAA provisional mark and a third-place finish. He now ranks 12th nationally and sixth all-time in Cal Poly Pomona history.
Gavin Hanes and
Jaeden Correa also achieved NCAA provisional marks in the pole vault, with Correa entering the program's all-time top 10 at ninth.
Overall, the Broncos collected an impressive 15 personal bests during the weekend, continuing their strong momentum this season.
