TURLOCK, Calif. – After an action-packed Day 2 at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships, the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos are tied at the top of the team standings with Chico State, each boasting 87 points heading into the final day.
Gavin Hanes delivered a standout performance in the decathlon, breaking his own meet record in the pole vault with a height of 4.90 meters. Hanes finished third overall in the decathlon with 6,105 points.
In the field events,
Collin Joyce claimed the triple jump title with a mark of 15.28 meters—an NCAA provisional qualifier and the fifth-best performance in program history. Teammate
Isaiah Baca also reached the podium, taking second place to contribute key points for the Broncos.
