The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced its 2024-25 academic award recipients, honoring both individual student-athletes and entire teams for outstanding academic achievement. Cal Poly Pomona's men's basketball program earned recognition on multiple fronts, underscoring its commitment to excellence both on the court and in the classroom.
The Broncos were named recipients of the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, which honors teams that achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year. This recognition reflects the program's dedication to academic success across the entire roster.
Individually, five Cal Poly Pomona players were selected to the NABC Honors Court, which recognizes junior, senior, and graduate student-athletes who posted a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher:
Among these honorees, Kevin Simeth stands out not only for his academic accomplishments but also for his athletic performance. Earlier this year, Simeth was awarded the CCAA Elite 13 Award, which recognizes the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating in a conference championship event.
Simeth's recognition with the Elite 13 Award earlier this year is a testament to the Broncos' commitment to championship-level performance both academically and athletically.
"Education is one of the NABC's five core values, and we are proud to recognize the academic accomplishments of these programs and individual student-athletes across our sport," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "The dedication and hard work of these athletes, along with their coaches and support staff members who prioritize academic success, deserves to be widely celebrated."
Across the country, more than 2,400 student-athletes earned NABC Honors Court recognition, and nearly 400 men's basketball programs received Team Academic Excellence Awards.
