Broncos Rally Past Two-Goal Deficit to Force Exciting 3-3 Draw

POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona faced a challenging start but showed resilience and determination to come back from a two-goal deficit and claim a 3-3 draw.

The opening 45 minutes were a challenging period for Cal Poly Pomona. Despite early offensive pressure with several attempts from Marvin Gamez, Liam McFarlane, and Victor Casillas, the Broncos struggled to break down Point Loma's disciplined defense. The team's defense also faced pressure, leading to a tough halftime scoreline.

In the second half, Cal Poly Pomona made important tactical adjustments and refreshed their lineup with several substitutions that energized their play.

The comeback began just over 13 minutes into the second half when Emiliano Garcia scored his first collegiate goal at home, assisted by Mads Frederiksen. Reflecting on the moment, Garcia said, "Honestly it was a very special moment to score my first collegiate goal at home. Just proud of how the team battled until the last minute. Overall, just happy to get my first goal at CPP."

The Broncos kept up the pressure, and Daniel Gutierrez tied the game with a goal assisted by Devin Jenkins and Mads Frederiksen, signaling a clear shift in momentum.

Although the Broncos briefly fell behind again, Clement Badger leveled the score with a composed finish assisted by Adam Benyoussef. Badger shared, "Scoring that goal was a great moment for me, and I'm glad I could contribute to the team's performance. It reflects the hard work we've been putting in together all this while."

Throughout the second half, Cal Poly Pomona showcased stronger cohesion and intensity. Frederiksen played a crucial role as a playmaker, contributing two assists and helping to control the pace of the game. The Broncos continued to apply pressure late in the game with multiple shots on target and corner kicks but were unable to find a winning goal.
