POMONA, Calif. –
Cassandra Lacey has joined the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball coaching staff, it was announced by head coach
Danelle Bishop on Monday afternoon. Lacey's first day with the Broncos came last Tuesday on September 2
nd.
"I'm truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to join a program with such a strong tradition of success," said Lacey. "Coach Bishop has given me the opportunity to grow as a coach and mentor. I am excited to add what I've learned over the past couple of years in all divisions."
Lacey arrives at Cal Poly Pomona after spending the 2024–25 season with nearby Cal State Fullerton, where she played an integral role overseeing academics and recruiting for the Titans' program.

Prior to her time at CSUF, Lacey served as an assistant coach at the University of Redlands during the 2023–24 season. In that role, she coordinated recruiting for both the varsity and junior varsity teams, organized individual player development sessions, managed recruiting visits, assisted with team travel, directed the program's high school camps, and handled equipment operations.
Her coaching journey also includes a stint at Pomona-Pitzer, following a standout collegiate career at the University of Redlands. As a four-year player for the Bulldogs, Lacey established herself as one of the program's all-time greats, ranking in the Top 10 in career points, assists, and starts. A 1,000-point scorer, she earned multiple accolades including SCIAC Athlete of the Year, All-West Region honors, and two First Team All-SCIAC selections.
Lacey was instrumental in leading Redlands to a SCIAC championship and tournament title during the 2019–20 season, helping secure the program's first NCAA Tournament berth in a decade and contributing to an upset victory over the nation's 8th-ranked team in the opening round. After graduation, she transitioned into coaching with Redlands before expanding her career across the Southern California basketball landscape.
A 2020 graduate of the University of Redlands, Lacey earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Spanish. She currently resides in Montclair.
