TACOMA, Wash. - Jasper Winslow, a former Cal Poly Pomona standout, has signed his first professional contract with Tacoma Defiance, the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate of Seattle Sounders FC.

"It's been kind of a tricky process getting to this point," Winslow said. "I wasn't able to get professional opportunities immediately after my senior season… so I played UPSL in the spring and summer, and that was really helpful in getting me back on my feet, getting healthy, and getting some competitive games."

Winslow had a standout career at Cal Poly Pomona, earning recognition both on and off the field. He was a two-time United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American (2023, 2024), made the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team in 2024 and Second Team in 2023, and was a two-time All-CCAA Second Team selection (2023, 2024). He also earned CCAA Offensive Player of the Week honors, three CCAA All-Academic selections, two CCAA Fall All-Academic Honor Roll awards, and was named CSC Academic All-District in 2024. Winslow capped his collegiate career as team captain in 2024.

After joining Tacoma's preseason in January, Winslow embraced the professional environment. "I've never been in a professional environment before… but I put a lot of focus into melding with the group and learning from everyone. I've really enjoyed the structure, the setup, and the staff and players, it's been really good."

Even when the outcome of his trial was uncertain, Winslow stayed positive. "After the first two weeks, they told me they weren't going to sign me… but they extended my trial another week. I did everything I could, and luckily at the end of that week, they offered me a contract. I'm in the right place for what I want to get out of it."

Reflecting on his journey, Winslow said, "It means a lot… it's been a lifelong goal of mine. I've always had the belief in myself and the vision to take it as far as I could play at the highest level. Now the real work starts, and I'm excited for it."

Winslow will be eligible for Tacoma Defiance's season opener on March 1, ready to bring his dedication and talent to the professional stage.
