SAN FRANCISCO - Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball standout Sydney Nelson has been named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-West Region First Team, marking the first All-West Region selection for the Broncos since Jada Blackwell and Ariel Marsh in the 2014-15 season.

Nelson earns her first regional recognition following a dominant 2025-26 campaign in which she averaged 18.6 points per game. Her scoring average ranked second in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and 32nd nationally.

A two-time CCAA Player of the Week, Nelson reached double figures in 24 of the 26 games she played this season and topped the 20-point mark 14 times. She was atop the conference in field goal percentage at .492 while also ranking among the CCAA leaders in free throw percentage (.739) and steals (1.77 per game).

Nelson delivered some of the top individual performances in the conference this season, recording the second- and third-highest single-game scoring totals in the CCAA with 31 and 30 points. She also tied for the most field goals made in a game with 13, accomplishing the feat twice.

In the opening game of the season, the Eastvale native surpassed the 1,000 career point mark, becoming just the 28th player in program history to reach that mark entirely in a Bronco uniform.

Nelson hopes to lead the Broncos to their first west region title since 2014-15 this weekend, as they face Azusa Pacific in the NCAA Regional Quarterfinals this Friday, March 13th, at 12:00 PM PT.
