Molette Highlights Broncos’ Strong Showing at UCR Spring Break Classic

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field turned in a strong performance Saturday at the UCR Spring Break Classic, featuring eight personal bests, a top finish, and solid depth across the field events and hurdles.
 
Junior Mi'ah Molette led the Broncos with a first-place finish in the hammer throw, posting a personal best of 52.84 meters (173-4) for the second-highest mark in program history. She also added a third-place finish in the shot put at 13.31 meters (43-8) to cap one of the top individual days for Cal Poly Pomona. Senior Isabelle Campos also contributed in the throws, placing sixth in the hammer at 44.83 meters (147-1) and ninth in the discus at 40.35 meters (132-4).
 
The Green & Gold had a strong day in the pole vault, where Kendra Williams and Bailie Horton each cleared 3.50 meters (11-5.75) to finish third and fourth, respectively, and matching their previous career bests. Shannon Gaitan added a seventh-place finish after clearing 3.20 meters (10-6).
 
In the jumps, freshman Esme Pounder and senior Kelsey Ehinlaiye both cleared 5.61 meters (18-5) in the long jump to place sixth and seventh, while senior Nyah Paulding was ninth at 5.48 meters (17-11.75). Paulding also placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.50 meters (37-8.75).
 
On the track, freshman Lotta Metsarinta recorded a fourth-place finish in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.89, while Keneyia Hall placed sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:04.99. Pounder also added a ninth-place finish in the 100 hurdles at 15.22.
 
In the sprints, Hannah Luster led the Broncos in both the 100 and 200, clocking 12.54 and 25.81, while Chanel Burton followed with times of 12.81 and 25.90. All four runners in the 200 meters set personal bests in the meet on Saturday.
 
Overall, the Broncos showed encouraging balance throughout the meet, combining experienced leadership with promising freshman performances as CPP continues to build momentum throughout the spring.
