3/8/2026 8:30:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS – Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball will make their 31st appearance on the national stage, receiving an at-large bid into the 2026 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the West Region. They will travel to Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington for the regional tournament taking place March 13-16th.

The Broncos have now made the past four consecutive national tournaments, with the 2025-26 squad looking to make their mark on the record books with a deep run of their own.

  2. Western Washington
  3. Cal Poly Pomona

  5. Cal State LA
  6. Azusa Pacific
  7. Point Loma

CCAA Coach of the Year Danelle Bishop makes her 10th appearance with Cal Poly Pomona in the national tournament, in just her 15th season at the helm. Bishop led the Broncos back in the 2013-14 west region title run, losing to the eventual national champion Bentley University. In Bishop's very first season with CPP in 2010-11, she led the Broncos all the way to the Elite Eight with a 28-5 record. In total, Bishop's squads are 9-8 in NCAA postseason competition.

Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball is the most storied program in NCAA Division II history, currently holding the most national titles among active DII schools with five. This includes winning the first-ever DII championship held in 1982, where legendary coach Darlene May guided the Broncos to their first title with a 29-7 record. That team was recently inducted into the Cal Poly Pomona Athletics Hall of Fame, and will be celebrated at the induction ceremony next month. The program went on to win back-to-back titles in 1985 and 1986, followed by another back-to-back title run in 2001 and 2002.

This year's team received the at-large bid with a dominant regular season, securing the CCAA regular season championship with a 20-2 conference record. Overall, the Broncos are 26-4 on the season, 12-2 on the road and in neutral games, and have been nationally ranked for the entirety of the 2025-26 campaign.

The Broncos' success this season has been powered by a deep and dynamic roster, including All-CCAA First Team honoree Sydney Nelson and All-CCAA Second Team members Brielle Minor, Hunter Hudson, and Andrea Stajic. Both Nelson and Stajic were recently named to the CCAA All-Tournament Team, as the Broncos came up just short in the championship game against Cal State LA.

Game Schedule
The No. 3 seeded Broncos will face No. 6 seed Azusa Pacific in the quarterfinals of the NCAA West Regional this Friday, March 13th at 12:00 PM. If they win, they will advance to the semifinals on Saturday at 5:00 PM against either No. 2 Western Washington or No. 7 Point Loma. The regional final will then be played on Monday, March 16th at 7:00 PM.

How to Watch
The NCAA women's basketball tournament will be streamed on the NCAA Championships Pass. Division II joined the free streaming initiative for the 2025-26 academic year, giving fans access to more than 1,200 championship games across Divisions II and III. Building on Division III's successful model, Division II championships not covered by existing TV agreements will stream on a centralized Hudl-powered platform, making it easier for families, alumni and fans to follow their teams. This expansion significantly boosts visibility for Division II student-athletes and programs nationwide. Watch HERE.
