POMONA, Calif. – Cal Poly Pomona Athletics set a new CCAA record in 2025-26 with 43 CCAA Athlete of the Week selections, surpassing UC San Diego's previous mark of 42 set in 2018-19 for most in an academic year. The Broncos' record spanned across all 10 CCAA-sponsored sports, marking the first time in department history that every sport had at least one honoree in the same academic year.
Â
Volleyball led all programs with 12 honors, highlighted by
Sarah Ybarra's five Offensive Player of the Week awards. Women's soccer followed with eight selections, including multiple honors from
Liberty Ortiz and
Vanessa Cruz.
Â
The spring sports kept the momentum going, with both baseball and women's track and field each producing six honorees. The Broncos' pitching staff accounted for four of baseball's selections, while women's track and field saw an even three-three split between field and track selections.
Â
Women's basketball and men's soccer each added three honors, while additional selections came from men's basketball, men's and women's cross country, and men's track and field.
Â
Several Broncos earned multiple awards during the year, led by Ybarra's record-breaking five, the most of any volleyball player in a season in conference history. The Green & Gold's 43 selections mark the most in CCAA history and reflect one of the most complete departmental efforts the conference has ever seen.
