CLEVELAND – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released the winter national standings for the Learfield Director's Cup on Thursday morning, seeing Cal Poly Pomona receive a No. 23 ranking in all of NCAA Division II with 303.5 total points.
Cal Poly Pomona has only been ranked higher once after the winter sports season, that being last year when they were No. 18 in the standings. Not including spring sports, CPP's teams have a combined 91-32-8 overall record this academic year, tracking to be one of the winningest years in department history. Women's basketball (73 points) and women's indoor track and field (33 points) combined for 106 total points from winter sports, helping the Broncos remain in the Top 25 of the Learfield standings.
Cal Poly Pomona's highest cumulative point total in a year came in 2024-25, when they garnered 410.5 total points across all sports and finished first among CCAA schools – the third time they had done so in the past four years. The Broncos will need 107 points from spring sports to break the school record for most points, a mark the three sports were able to reach in three of the past four years.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. Overall, 15 sports are counted in the final DII standings, four of which must be women's volleyball and basketball, and men's basketball and baseball. The next highest (11 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.
