The Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team finished its 2004-05 season with an overall record of 21-7 and a 17-5 record against CCAA teams to finish third in the conference. Earning a berth in the postseason as the West Region's No. 6 seed, the Broncos took on No. 3 seed Humboldt State but lost, 86-83, on March 12 in the opening round.

CPP was led offensively by junior guard/forward Jeff Bonds, who averaged a team-best 17.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Junior guard David Sybesma and senior guard Jonathan Williams also had scoring averages in double digits, with totals of 14.0 and 10.1, respectively. In addition, Williams led the team in assists, averaging 3.1 per game.

With Bonds and Sybesma, this season marked the first time in 28 years that the Broncos had two athletes represented in the first-team of the All-CCAA Team. Williams made second team of the All-CCAA Team for the 2004-05 season.

At the end of his four years at CPP, Williams listed among the Broncos' All-Time Record list in five different categories. For his career, Williams had the third-most 3-point field goals made (126) and attempted (341), and for the season, he made 50 3-point field goals, which was the sixth-highest total for a Bronco. He also had the fifth-highest number of assists for a career (282) and had played in the most games for a CPP player (113) up to that point.

From the free-throw line, Bonds made his mark in the record book by making 125 free throws, the fifth-most for the Broncos all-time. The highlight of this feat was his perfect 10 for 10 showing against Azusa Pacific on Nov. 21, 2003, making Bonds only the fourth Bronco player to make all his free throws while attempting a minimum of 10.

In their Feb. 28, 2004 game at Chico State, the Broncos attempted a program-record 31 3-point field goals.
