The Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team ended the 1991-92 season with an overall record of 15-13 and a record of 7-7 against CCAA teams to tie for fourth in the conference with both Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Cal State San Bernardino.
This season marked the final one for head coach Dave Bollwinkel, who finished his five-year stint as the Broncos' head coach with a 58-83 overall record and a conference record of 27-45. He was the sixth head coach in the program's history.
Senior guard/forward Chancellor McCobb, becoming the third All-Region CPP player in three seasons, scored a team-high 15.9 points per game and averaged a team-best 5.0 rebounds per game for the season. Senior guard Andre Harrell led the team in assists, averaging 2.8 per game.
Many CPP players broke multiple records during this season. McCobb entered the Bronco record book as the record holder for career steals with 101. He also entered eighth in free throws made in a season (119), tied for eighth in points scored in a season (444), seventh in career free throws made (200), and seventh in career points scored (847).
Harrell (71) and senior guard Ken Scalmanini (68) were behind McCobb on the career steals list, in eighth and ninth, respectively. In the category of career assists, Harrell finished the season in sixth (188), Scalmanini in eighth (145), and sophomore guard Eric Jones in 10th (130). From 3-point range with totals of 214 and 148, respectively, Harrell and Scalmanini had the second-most and fifth-most 3-point field goal attempts for career.
Junior forward John Overbeck, with still a season remaining, recorded the second-highest mark for blocks in a career with 46 and had the ninth-most blocks in a season for a Bronco (20). With just 46 attempts from the foul line, Overbeck made 40 of them to earn the best free throw percentage for a season (.870).
As a team, the Broncos set game records for free throws made (36) and most 3-point field goals made (10) in a game against CPSLO, en route to the Broncos' 10th-highest scoring game ever, beating the Mustangs, 112-101.
In a game against Seattle Pacific, the Broncos made seven of their nine attempts for an all-time best 3-point field goal percentage mark (.778).
For the season, the Broncos set new highs in free throws made (533) and 3-point field goals attempted (352).
