Scolinos Stadium Campaign

Scolinos Stadium

Cal Poly Pomona is building a new, state-of-the-art venue at the current site of Scolinos Field. It is estimated to cost approximately $7 million and will be funded through private contributions. The initial phase of the campaign was kicked-off with a $500,000 gift from alumnus Danny Andrews and a $600,000 private gift to the University which was then ear-marked for Phase I of the Campaign.

The new facility will give the Broncos the field they deserve while embracing Coach John Scolinos’ time-tested credo that the baseball diamond is as vital a learning space as any classroom or lecture hall.

The new stadium will allow Cal Poly Pomona to compete for the best players in Division II, allowing the team to continue the tradition of success implemented by Coach Scolinos. But it also will have an impact far beyond the baseball program, providing opportunities that currently do not exist.

Not only will the new facility allow Cal Poly Pomona to bid for and host events such as the California Collegiate Athletic Association conference tournament or the NCAA Division II playoffs, but the new field with lights and modern fan amenities will also allow Cal Poly Pomona to host California Interscholastic Federation high school baseball finals as well as to partner with community programs and provide clinics and more opportunities for the area’s youth.

The campaign and renovation has been divided into three phases. Each is detailed below.

Coach Scolinos was not only a highly successful and respected coach, he was a teacher and he touched the lives of countless people outside the sport of baseball. The completion of Scolinos Stadium will allow his legacy to live on and provide opportunities for generations to come.
