Clint Allard is entering his second season in 2013-14 as an assistant coach in the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball program. Head coach Greg Kamansky announced Allard's hiring on July 9, 2012.
Allard and the Broncos enjoyed a tremendous 2012-13 campaign, going 28-3 overall to match the program record set by the 2009-10 national championship squad. In late February 2013, Cal Poly Pomona secured its first-ever outright conference regular season crown. The next month, the Broncos captured the program's first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships tournament title.
The 2012-13 Broncos also finished with the top-ranked defense at the Division II level for the first time in program history.
Prior to joining CPP, Allard spent the previous four seasons as a UCSD assistant coach, joining the Tritons' staff prior to the 2008-09 season after a stellar playing career from 2004-08.
During his time as a UCSD coach, Allard was actively involved with all aspects of coaching and his primary responsibilities include monitoring the team's academic progress, scouting, recruiting, team travel and overseeing the program's film exchange and video operations. He was also responsible for player development with the guards.
A four-year starter, Allard posted career averages of 10.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.2 steals in 112 games as a Triton. In 2007-08, he was named to the All-CCAA Second Team after averaging 9.8 points and career-highs in rebounds (3.9), assists (4.6) and steals (1.2).
Allard also earned All-CCAA Tournament Team honors that season. With a victory in the conference tournament championship, UCSD advanced to the NCAA Division II West Regional for the first time and went on to finish the season with an overall record of 18-12, the program's best mark at the D-II level.
One of the best players the UCSD program has ever seen, Allard's name can now be found all over the Tritons' record books. The former Archbishop Mitty High School product ranks 10th in all-time career scoring with a total of 1,150 points, third in career assists with 414 and ninth in career assist average at 3.7 per game.
In terms of Division II records at UCSD, Allard holds the all-time career mark for scoring (1,150), assists (414), assist average (3.7), steals (130), minutes played (3,378) and games started (104). He ranks second in games played (112), rebounding (387), field goals attempted (635), free throws made (299) and free throws attempted (402).
Allard graduated from UCSD in 2008 with a degree in Management Science. In 2010, he earned a Concordia master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration. Allard resides in Claremont with his fiancée Sara Robinson, who is the Broncos' Compliance Coordinator.
