Dahir Nasser

Dahir Nasser begins his second season in 2011-12 as a coaching assistant for the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team. As a player on the Broncos' 2009-10 national championship team, Nasser brings a high level of work ethic and enthusiasm to the CPP coaching staff.

Nasser started all 67 games during his two-year career as a Bronco, with his previous playing experience coming at Cuyamaca College and Phoenix College. The Phoenix, Ariz., native was a four-year letterwinner at Tempe McClintock High School, where he captained the hoops team as a junior and senior and earned all-state honors during his final season.

After the 2009-10 season, Nasser was awarded the NCAA Division II Degree-Completion Award, a program set up to provide financial assistance to deserving student-athletes with completion of a first baccalaureate degree. Candidates are student-athletes who have exhausted their athletic eligibility and have received athletic financial aid.

He was also named one of CPP’s two Hal Charnofsky Award recipients this past season. The award recognizes California Collegiate Athletic Association student-athletes who “have distinguished themselves in the classroom and in their sport.”

In 2010, Nasser graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Psychology.
