Sarah Garcia enters her fourth season as a program associate for the Cal Poly Pomona cross country and track and field programs.

In addition to her coaching responsibilities with the Broncos, she also is a part-time lecturer in Physics at CPP and serves as an assistant cross country coach at Valencia High School.

A Valencia native and 2012 graduate of CPP, Garcia earned her undergraduate degree in Physics. During her senior season competing in cross country, she helped the Broncos reach the 2010 NCAA Division II National Championships for just the second time in program history.

In May 2011 at the annual student-athlete banquet, received the Hal Charnofsky Award. The honor recognizes California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in the classroom and in their sport.

Garcia has excelled in the field of physics and as a student-athlete at CPP, she co-wrote a physics education research paper which was published in the 2010 Physics Education Research (PER) Conference Proceedings.

While at Valencia High School, she was a four-time Most Valuable Runner in cross country and also an academic honors student. She earned All-Empire League honors her senior year and set a personal best of 19:43 over three miles.
