High School: A 2016 graduate of Claremont High School... Earned First Team All-League honors in cross country for two years... Also collected All San Gabriel Valley First Team and the Team Tenacity Award... Team finished 5th and 4th at Division 2 State Championships... Member of Mt. SAC Relays Seeded 4x1600 1st place relay team in a 17:26. 

Personal: Son of Thomas and Rosemarie Backman... Father ran collegiately at Azusa Pacific while mother graduated from Pepperdine... Landscape Architecture major... Enjoys relaxing, traveling and spending time with friends in his free time... Favorite pro athletes are Steve Prefontaine, Matt Centrowitz Jr. and Kobe Bryant... Favorite pro teams are the Lakers, Clippers, Mariners, Seahawks and the Spain and Germany soccer teams. Aspires to be able to travel the world with a career in landscape architecture.
