Tony Reyes, one of the most honored Cal Poly Pomona cross country athletes in school history, is in his second stint as an assistant coach for the Broncos. From April through August of 2012, Reyes served as the interim head coach for the CPP cross country and track and field programs.

The 2012-13 school year marks the 10th season for Reyes at CPP overall, as he served under Jim Sackett before joining the staff of Troy Johnson. Reyes continues to guide the Broncos' distance runners in both cross country and track and field while working as an assistant on the staff of head coach Octavious Gillespie-Bennett.

Under Reyes' guidance in 2011, Tiffany Dinh earned All-American honors in cross country at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Spokane, Wash.

In Fall 2010 with the help of Reyes' leadership, the Broncos' cross country teams turned in an impressive fall campaign. The women's squad advanced to nationals for the first time since 1985 and ended up placing 19th at the D-II Championships held in Louisville, Ky. On the men's side, CPP took fifth at the NCAA West Region race in Washington, narrowly missing the chance to move on. Both squads were featured in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top 25 poll during the later stages of the season.

The Broncos hosted the 2010 CCAA Championships in Whittier and CPP took second for both the men's and women's races. Four Bronco runners on the men's side earned All-CCAA First Team honors while Tiffany Dinh paced the CPP women and took second overall.

Reyes, a native of Pomona, Calif., earned seven total All-American honors for the Broncos and won two of those honors in cross country in 1980 and 1983.

Reyes also holds the second-fastest 10,000 meter time in the program's history with his 30:08.0 clocking at the NCAA Division II West Regional in Riverside in 1982. He was a major cog of the 1983 team that won the NCAA Division II championship.

Reyes was also a five-time All-American in track and field, earning honors in 1980 (1500 meters), 1981 (1500 meters), 1982 (1500 meters) and 1984 (1500 meters, 3000 steeplechase). He holds the school records in the mile (4:08.18) and the steeplechase (8:53.28).
