Biography
In 2012 Cross Country: Continuing his strong performance from last year, he helped his team place sixth in the NCAA Division II West Region Championships… Raced to an 18th-place finish with a mark of 33:00.85… Took 26th in the CCAA Championships, finishing with a 26:47.3 time… Received All-West Region honors.
In 2011 Cross Country: Did not compete during the 2011-12 season and received the redshirt designation.
In 2011 Track & Field: Earned the Broncos four points at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships in Turlock with a fifth-place finish in the 10,000-meter race as he crossed the line in 32:01.89.
In 2010 Cross Country: Turned in a solid debut season for the CPP men's cross country squad, helping the Broncos to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Division II West Regional race... He finished 17th overall at the CCAA Championships in Whittier, Calif., with a mark of 25:44.2.
At Mt. San Antonio College: Ran 21:06 over four miles and became school's top finisher at state meet in Fresno in 2009... Earned Most Improved award and Coach's Award... Earned second-team all-conference honors... Owns personal bests of 15:20 over 5,000 meters and 32:18 over 10,000 meters.
High School: A 2007 graduate of Don Antonio Lugo High School... A three-year letter winner in soccer, two letters in track and field and one letter in cross country... Awarded the Golden Conquest Award for business and technology his senior year.
Personal: Son of Celestina Cruz... Spanish and English double major... Enjoys writing, creating origami, watching movies and hanging out with family and friends in his free time... Aspires to teach Spanish, either at the high school or college levels, and also teach English as a second language... He also wants to coach either soccer or cross country.
