Julia Warren will enter her first season as the assistant coach for the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team in 2019.

Warren comes to CPP after one year as the Director of Operations for the University of New Mexico volleyball program.  Previous to that, she was a four-year volleyball student-athlete for the NCAA Division I Lobos, then spent one season (2017) with GS Ilioupolis, a professional volleyball club based in Athens, Greece, after graduating from New Mexico in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.

In addition to serving as the Director of Operations for UNM volleyball for the 2018 campaign, Warren was also the head coach for the Albuquerque Rebels Volleyball Club.

As a student-athlete at UNM, Warren was a dynamic player as both an outside hitter and a libero. Throughout her four years, she played in a total of 424 sets in 114 matches, registering 890 kills, 143 assists, 68 aces, 122 total blocks (15 solo and 122 assisted) and had 1201 digs, producing a total of 1026.5 points.

As a result of her efficiency on the court, Warren was named All-Mountain West three times in her career and ranks fifth in program history in career digs.

She finished her career as the just 11th player in program history to earn three all-conference honors.
Statistically, Warren’s 1201 career digs and 890 career kills made her one of two players in program history to have at least 1000 career digs and 800 career kills during the 25-point rally scoring era (2008-present).

In her senior season (in 2016), Warren led the team in service aces with 31, was second in digs at 289 and third in kills with 294. She had 16 matches of double-digit kills, including a career-best 28 vs. Utah State on Nov. 12, as well as 16 matches with double-digit digs, including a season-best 17 vs. South Florida. She finished her senior campaign with 10 double-doubles, which tied for third-most in the Mountain West in 2016.

As a sophomore in 2014, Warren was named Mountain West Designated Libero of the Year after playing in 29 matches and switching from outside hitter to libero mid-way through the season. She was first among all liberos in the conference with 291 digs and second with 4.16 digs per set.

In her first season with the Lobos in 2013, Warren earned Mountain West Freshman of the Year, starting in 25 matches and tied for second on the team with 222 kills. At the conclusion of the year, Warren also was honored as the Top Newcomer on the team.

Warren is a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
