POMONA -- Ebony Macias joins the Cal Poly Pomona Department of Intercollegiate Athletics as the Assistant Director of Communications, it was announced by Assistant Athletics Director for Communications
Tyler Lobe on Tuesday.
"I am thrilled for Ebony to come on board to help bolster the communications efforts of our 11 intercollegiate teams here at CPP," said Lobe. "All of our teams have enjoyed a lot of success in recent years, and being able to bring in another professional to increase the coverage of our talented student-athletes is only going to make this department better and more visible. Ebony has the knowledge and passion for athletic communications and I'm excited for her to join the Bronco family!"
Macias comes to Cal Poly Pomona from Cal State San Bernardino where she spent the 2021-22 year as the Athletics Marketing and Communication Specialist.
"I am very grateful for the opportunity to work for such an amazing athletics department," said Macias. "I hope to be an integral piece in telling the Broncos' story!"
Macias will lead the communications efforts of men's and women's soccer, men's basketball and men's and women's track and field at Cal Poly Pomona this academic year.
At CSUSB, Macias maintained the athletics web site, facilitated the sports information and media relations efforts of all 10 intercollegiate teams, including three postseason tournaments -- the 2021 CCAA Volleyball Tournament, the 2021 NCAA Division II Volleyball West Regional Tournament and the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball West Regional Tournament -- managed the main social media accounts for the department, produced graphics to promote game days and upcoming events, supervised student paraprofessionals in various game day roles, and launched a web site redesign effort.
Prior to her time at CSUSB, Macias served as an intern in the sports information office at College of The Desert from 2018 to 2020 where she assisted with various tasks such as game day operations, web site maintenance, writing, and photography, among others.Â
Macias earned her Bachelor's degree in English Literature in 2018 from Cal State San Bernardino, and most recently obtained her Master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2019.
