Cal Poly Pomona Athletics

Valerie Strawn came through in clutch moments for the Cal Poly Pomona women’s soccer team this past weekend, leading the Broncos to a 2-0 start to the 2011 season. Strawn showed tremendous passing ability in Thursday’s 4-2 victory against Grand Canyon, as she registered assists on two of the four scores. On Saturday, her first goal of the season proved to be the game-winner for the Broncos in a 2-1 victory. Strawn controlled a rebound in the 22nd minute and knocked it to the back of the net after an initial shot by teammate Cindy Paez.
