It was a new distance for Tiffany Dinh but unsurprisingly, she tackled the challenge with poise and pace.

Competing in the 10,000-meter event Friday for the first time in her career, Dinh crossed the line in 35:47.24 to finish second at the Occidental Distance Carnival in front of a boisterous and supportive group of her Cal Poly Pomona track and field teammates cheering in the stands.

The mark stands as the second-best time in the Broncos' record books and easily lands her a provisional mark. The junior from Norwalk, Calif., ran Friday's race with an even pace as she finished the first 5,000 meters in 17:52 and the final 5,000 in 17:55. Dinh's 35:47.24 time falls between the "A" standard of 34:58.20 and the "B" mark of 36:40.0.
