With Angela Garcia capturing two individual conference titles to lead the way Saturday, Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field finished within the top three teams at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships for the first time in more than a decade.

CPP's Garcia swept the 100- and 200-meter races in dominating fashion Saturday, setting personal bests in both events with respective marks of 11.77 and 24.15 to earn the CCAA Newcomer of the Year award. As the results from around NCAA Division II continue to shift, Garcia's "B" provisional qualifiers in the 100-meter dash could fall within the top 15 to put her in serious contention for a spot at nationals.

She continues to tear up the program's record book as she now holds the No. 3 spot in the 100 and 200. A senior from Hanford, Garcia competed in soccer for the Broncos the past four years before joining track and field in January.
