With seven teammates cheering her on in Pueblo and many more watching from Pomona, Cal Poly Pomona's Jillian Schmidt placed fourth in the high jump Saturday at the NCAA Division II National Championships to become a two-time All-American.

Having finished eighth in the heptathlon Friday with an epic comeback, Schmidt had to come back Saturday and compete against the nation's best high jumpers after completing seven events earlier in the week.
Schmidt rose to the occasion in the high jump, recording a mark of 5-8.75 to match the personal best she set on Thursday during day one of the D-II National Championships. Barbara Szabo of Western State captured the high jump national title with a height of 6-1.5.

Schmidt is the Broncos' first single-season two-time All-American since 1999 when Tabreshia Lawrence accomplished the feat in the 100-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash. Schmidt is one of four CPP student-athletes to receive All-American recognition in the high jump event and the first since 1989.
