In the 1-0 season-opening victory for Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer, the difference maker proved to be Aleesa Gonzalez - a freshman defender making her collegiate debut for the Broncos. The San Jose native placed a hard shot into the back of the night from the right side of the box, putting CPP ahead 1-0 at the 40:32 mark.

Playing just 65 miles from her hometown, Gonzalez entered the match just three minutes prior to scoring the goal and finished the game with 33 minutes of action. The Broncos return to competition on Friday with a 7 p.m. road game at Cal State L.A.
