Cal Poly Pomona Athletics

After missing the season's first meet due to injury, Lizette Huerta returned to action Saturday and made a quick impact for the Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country team.

A junior from Ontario, Huerta raced to a 22:52.8  time - third overall - to lead the Broncos to a second-place team showing at the Cal State San Bernardino Invite. The only team ahead of CPP was Division I competitor Cal State Fullerton.

Across the 6,000-meter course at the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Academy Training Center, the Broncos totaled 66 points to top conference challengers Cal State San Bernardino, UC San Diego, Cal State L.A. and Sonoma State.
