John Carrell led the Cal Poly Pomona men's cross country pack Saturday at the NCAA Division II National Championships and in the end, a true team effort from the Broncos resulted in an eighth-place finish for the program's top performance since 1997.

John, a senior from Westminster who transferred to CPP to race with his twin brother Ryan, is now the 17th All-American in the history of Broncos' men's cross country. It's been eight years since a CPP male runner achieved that accolade. John's time of 31:14.3 Saturday is the 11th-fastest 10K mark in school history.
