The latest regional rankings placed Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country at No. 10 in the West and fourth in the conference.
 
On Saturday morning in San Bernardino at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships, the Broncos raced like they had something to prove. SeniorLizette Huerta led an inspired effort, placing second individually to help CPP take second place as a team.
 
It marked the Broncos' best finish since 2011 and CPP didn't trail champion Chico State by much, collecting 72 points to the Wildcats' 50. Huerta notched a time of 22:35.7 to earn All-CCAA honors for the second-straight year.
