The Cal Poly Pomona men’s basketball team secured two wins this past weekend as they defeated Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday 66-59 and Cal State East Bay on Saturday 73-48.
In both contests, Barry Bell earned his time on the floor. Friday, the junior from Oakland put together a 4-for-8 tally from the field, complete with a three and three successful shots from the free throw line en route to his 12 points. He also dished out two assists and a steal while committing just one turnover in 33 minutes.
Saturday’s matchup against the Pioneers saw Bell again score in double digits. The sociology major was just one point shy of the lead scorer spot as the Broncos had four players within a point of the lead. The balanced scoring on the night featured Bell going 3-for-5 from the field, sinking his only three point attempt, and recording four free throws. In the game, the CPP assist leader also provided five more assists to his teammates.
