In just her second season at Cal Poly Pomona, conference scoring leader Jada Blackwell reached the 1,000-point mark. Prior to Saturday's 72-57 victory over Chico State, the Rancho Cucamonga native needed just eight points to reach the milestone.
With the clock reading 10:42 in the first period, the senior put in a layup to give CPP a two-point lead and earn point No. 1,000. She ended the contest going 8-for-14 from the field en route to 18 points.
Friday, the senior turned in yet another commanding performance for the Broncos, sinking 13-of-18 shots in what was to be a game leading 28 points.
On the weekend, Blackwell also recorded 15 rebounds, three blocks, and a pair of steals. The Broncos now carry an overall 15-5 mark on the season, complete with a 13-3 tally in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
