Jared Jamed, a newcomer to the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos helped the Broncos to go 4-1 this week and win their California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opening series against the San Francisco State Gators. The Green and Gold led off the week topping the Vanguard Lions 6-3, then a walk homer in the ninth pushed them over the Azusa Pacific Cougars 1-0, then in game one against the Gators, they fell 5-4 in extra innings. The second game against the SFSU squad showed CPP win after a postponement 7-4, and the final win was a 9-4 victory.
A driving force behind the Broncos' victorious week was James, in the five games he totaled seven hits in 19 at bats for a .368 average. He tallied five runs himself and recorded four runs batted in. He racked up a .632 slugging percentage as his showing included a pair of doubles and a homer. He reached base safely 11 times as he also walked four times. The transfer student also was successful in both of the stolen base attempts he had.
On defense, James also had a 1.000 fielding percentage which included 11 putouts.
