Michael Koval helped the Broncos secure a four-game sweep over the Cal State San Marcos Cougars with a 4-0 win on Sunday. The junior righty pitched a complete game shutout in the series finale and did so while only throwing 93 pitches.
With 27 outs to work with, Koval secured his victory while facing just 31 batters, allowing only five hits, striking out six, and walking none.
His performance included retiring the last 15-consecutive batters faced. Sunday's contest was the longest outing for the Alta Loma native in his collegiate career, topping last season's record of seven innings set in the NCAA West Regional Tournament.
With the win, Koval improves to a flawless 3-0 record on the season.
